Death of Mrs. Everhart
The people of Manning and vicinity were shocked last Thursday afternoon to learn that Mrs. Fred Everhart living just west of town had dropped dead while she was at work in the kitchen. It seems that Mr. Everhart was out at his work and as it was his usual custom to come about three o'clock for lunch, he came to the house and to the kitchen door and undertook to open it when he found something was against the door but by hard work he pushed it open far enough that he could see in and to his surprise, his wife lay against the door, dead.

He immediately summoned the doctor and his neighbors but the doctor found that there was no life left in the body.

It is supposed that heart failure was the cause of death as every indication seems to point to the fact that she had fallen all at once, as she had the mop in her hands and fell across the stick or handle of the mop.

Mrs. Everhart was a good kind woman and had numerous friends in this community. Catharine Maggie Everhart, nee Peterson, was born April 17, 1842, at Breakhun, Germania, and departed this life at Manning, Iowa, November 9, 1905, age 63 years, 6 months and 23 days.

In 1866 she was married to Paul Peterson and was the mother of five children.

She came to America in 1890 and was united in marriage to Frederick Everhart, February 13, 1891.

Her husband, two sons, Jacob Peterson of Manning; Peter Peterson of Fairmont; North Dakota; one daughter, Mrs. Christina Jacobson of Fairmont, North Dakota, and two brothers and one sister survive her.

Two daughters, Marie and Paulina preceeding their mother to the spirit world.

Mrs. Everhart was a member of the Lutheran Church in Germany.

The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Golden of the M.E. Church officiating after which the remains were interred the Manning Cemetery, south of town.

Card of Thanks.
I wish to extend to my neighbors and all my friends my sincere thanks for their kindness in assisting me in the burial of my dear wife.
Fred Everhart
