Catherina Dorathea Fredarika Boyens Farley, daughter of Andrew and Eliese (Rohr) Boyens, was born August 4, 1891, near Aspinwall, Iowa. She attended country schools then attended sewing school in Manning, Iowa. She worked for many families in the Manning area before her marriage to Everett George Farley on October 19, 1915, at Onawa, Iowa, After her marriage they lived in Manilla, Iowa, where her husband worked for the Milwaukee Railroad. In 1925 they moved to Perry, Iowa, where her husband worked for the railroad and then was Chief of Police for many years. Everett died on June 15, 1950, and Catherine continued to work and live in Perry. She was a member of the Episcopalian Church in Perry. Due to failing health she moved to the Manilla Manor Nursing Home on January 14, 1982. Catherine enjoyed good health until about a week before her death at the Manilla Manor, Manilla, Iowa, on Friday, April 26, 1985, at the age of 93 years, 8 months, and 22 days.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; by three brothers: Harry, Fred, and Andrew Boyens; and by three sisters: Emma Wiese, Dora Soll, and Margaret Schroeder.

She is survived by four children: Beulah Mae Baker and her husband, Donald, of Whiting, Iowa; Gertrude Madonna Dammann and her husband, Shorty, of Manning; Willard Lee Farley and his wife, Jean, of Hacienda Heights, California; and Alice Elizabeth Stout of Perry; by 20 grandchildren; by 28 great-grandchildren; by two sisters: Elizabeth, Mrs. Louis Dammann, of Manning; and Mrs. Elsie Wiese, of Manilla; by one brother-in-law, Hank Wiese, of Manilla; by one sister-in-law, Mrs. Hannah Boyens, of Manilla; by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
