Catherine Albertina, daughter of Anton and Ida (Zubrod) Williams, was born November 1, 1920, on the home place, near Halbur, northeast of Manning, Iowa. Catherine attended St. Augustine School in Halbur. After completing her education, she helped on the family farm and worked for other farm families in the area.

On January 30, 1946, Catherine was united in marriage with Albert J. Irlmeier at St. Augustine Church in Halbur. Six children were born to this union. They lived on a farm 3 1/2 miles north of Manning. Albert died in 1969. Catherine and her children farmed until 1976 when they moved into Manning. In the early 1980s they built a home on First Street.

Catherine was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Manning. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, reading and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Catherine was able to remain in her home until a couple of weeks before her death when she moved to a nursing home. She died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 21, 2011, at the age of 90 years, 9 months and 20 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Leo, Tony, Virgil, Raymond “Buddy” and Cyril Williams (Helen); sisters Rita Meier (Edward) and Martha Riesberg (Walter); brother-in-law Ralph Hoffman; and sister-in-law Betty Williams and many of her husband’s family.

Catherine is survived by her children: Sharon and husband James Daniel of Carroll; Vernon Irlmeier and wife Carol of Glidden; Shirley Heithoff of Carroll; Marlene Irlmeier of Manning; Ronald Irlmeier and wife Donna of Manning; and Joleen and husband Darrell Brincks of Carroll; 21 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; brother Louis Williams of Carroll; sister Ida Hoffman of Carroll; sisters-in-law: Esther Williams of Manning; Anita Williams of Austin, MN; Bernice Williams of Roselle; Velma Williams of Halbur; Caroline Vonnahme of Arcadia; Mary Ann Irlmeier of Carroll; and Bernice Irlmeier of Carroll; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
