Charlie Bolte
IN AND ABOUT THE CITY.
Last Saturday, while a force of men were at work digging a well on the farm of Conrad
Bolte, an accident occurred which proved fatal to one of Mr. Bolte's sons. Two men were
at work, one in the well and the other turning the crank of the windlass. Charles W., the
nineteen-year-old son of Mr. Bolte was standing by watching the men at work, when
suddenly the crank of the windlass flew off and struck young Bolte on the forehead,
sending him to the ground. He was picked up by one of his brothers, and in a short time
apparently seemed to be little the worse for the accident. This was shortly after ten
o'clock, and in the afternoon the boy complained of headache, though nothing serious was
apprehended at the time. Late that night he grew worse and at two o'clock Dr. Blech was
sent for, but before he arrived the boy was dead. The affair is indeed a sad one and the
parents are almost crazed with grief. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place
at the cemetery in this city Monday afternoon.
