Death Brings Rest.
On last Saturday morning, June 13, 1908, occurred the death of Mrs. Christina Heckmann. Death came to her as a relief but to the children it was a shock of heart breaking grief. We well remember Mr. and Mrs. Heckmann as they were familiar figures on our streets. They were of our earliest settlers having moved to Manning in 1881. Mr. Heckmann died some three years ago and since that time the lonely widow had made her home in Carroll with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Hoffmann. The deceased was born in Hessen Castle Dernhagen, Germany, January 23, 1838, and was married to Henry Heckmann in Germany and came to America and Manning in 1881. To this union was born seven children, two of whom survive, Louis, of Des Moines, and Mrs. Hoffmann, of Carroll.

Mrs. Heckmann was typical of the best type of the good old German wife and mother and it is no wonder her children are plunged into the deepest grief for they have lost the dearest friend the earth affords.

The funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church in this city last Sunday at two o'clock, Rev. Johann Ansorge officiating. The casket and pulpit were banked with flowers, loving tributes from sympathizing friends. She was laid to rest beside her husband in our little cemetery followed by a long procession.

CARD OF THANKS.
To the kind friends and neighbors who so willingly assisted us during the sickness and death of our beloved mother, we wish to express our heart felt thanks. We can only say "God bless the noble big hearted citizens of this little city." MRS. FRANK HOFFMANN, MR. LOUIS HECKMANN.

Note there are no tombstone records for Christina Heckmann. But her husband, Henry Heckmann, is buried in section B, row 22 north to south.
The city records show Henry and Mrs. Henry Heckman but no dates for Mrs. Heckman.
