MRS. CHRISTINA LOHMEIER
August 21, 1913 Manning Monitor

Sunday evening August 17, about six o'clock, the Angel of Death called home Mrs. Christina Lohmeier after a short illness from pneumonia. She had passed through a number of serious sicknesses and hopes were entertained for her recovery up to almost the last. Every medical case and attention was given her but the hand of death could not be stayed.

Christina Wibke Singerling was born in Germany in 1840 and married in 1860 to Jochim Henry Lohmeier. To this union 12 children were born, three of them preceding her to the better land. They are Amelia, Jacob and Emma. Those surviving are Mrs. Louise Kuhl, John, Joe, Peter and Mrs. Fred Schleeter of Manning. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Moeller of Springfield, Minnesota; Mrs. William Gramkau of Sholes, Nebraska; Mrs. Helena Addy of Omaha; Mrs. J.A. Peters of Arcadia. She also leaves 35 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two sisters and a brother also survive her. They live in Germany.

The funeral was held Wednesday. Services were held both at the home and at Presbyterian Church Rev. Fauth of Westside conducted the services, after which kind hands took the body to Iowa Township Cemetery and laid it to rest.

In 1881, her husband died in a Chicago hospital and since that time Mrs. Lohmeier has worked hard to raise her family. For a number of years she has made her home with her children. She was at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Schleeter when she died aged 72 years, 14 months and 29 days.

Those out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Moeller of Springfield, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. William Gramkau of Sholes, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Peters and two children of Arcadia; John Peters of Arcadia; Hans Voss, and two children of Laurel, Nebraska; Mr. and Mrs. George Lehmkuhl of Wisner, Nebraska.

In the death of Mrs. Lohmeier a kind and loving mother, and true friend passed from this earth. She is gone but the life she lived still has its influence. She raised an excellent family, and they keenly feel the loss of their mother. She now lives where there is no more sickness or suffering awaiting the time when, she can again join her loved ones. We sympathize deeply with the bereaved.
