Death of Mrs. Christine Hass
May 1, 1913

Ever since Marx Hass died, August, 5, 1910, his widow, Christine Hass, has been in poor health. Last Thursday, April 24, 1913, her soul took flight.

Christine Margareta Tölk was born in Schleswig-Holstien, Germany, on January 8, 1849, and died at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Albert Stammer, just across the line in Crawford County.

In the year 1869 she was united in Marriage to Marx Hass and the same year they left for America to seek their fortune. For 14 years they lived in Clinton where they first settled, then coming to Crawford County. This was thirty years ago. Here in a new country where neighbors were scarce and times often hard, they tilled the soil and gathered about them much of this world's goods.

Their home was blessed with thirteen children, three of whom died in infancy. All those living were present at the funeral. The following are the children: Mrs. Chris Tank, Carroll County; Mrs. Anna Nulle, Crawford County; Mrs. Albert Stammer, Crawford County; Peter and Frank Hass, Crawford County; Hannas Hass of Manning; Albert Hass, of Ogilvie, Minnesota, and Edward of Botna.

The funeral was held last Sunday at the Albert Stammer home, Rev Wendt, of Manilla, speaking words of cheer and comfort to the bereaved. The body was taken to the Manning cemetery. A large number following the remains to its last resting place.
