Clara Hoffman

Mrs. Clara Hoffman, 81, Manning, died en route to Manning General Hospital Friday morning, May 28, 1971, after becoming ill at her home.

The funeral mass will be at 12 noon Monday at Sacred Heart Church here, with the Rev. Norbert Weber, MSC, officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Saturday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, where the rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. There will be a Bible Service Sunday night at 8:30.

Mrs. Hoffman, daughter of Michael and Anna (Balk) Zitzlsperger, was born near Willey June 7, 1889. She attended St. Mary's School in Willey. She married Lawrence Hoffman on May 2, 1916, and they farmed near Glidden and later, near Roselle. They lived on a farm northeast of Manning for 19 years. Mr. Hoffman died in 1947, and in 1951 Mrs. Hoffman moved to Manning. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Altar and Rosary Society of the parish.

Survivors included six children: Harriet, Earl and William, all at home; Mrs. Leo (Phyllis) Bluml, Denison; Julius of Wheaton, Illinois, and Mrs. Eddie (Marian) Long, Manning; ten grandchildren; two brothers, Frank and William Zitzlsperger of Carroll; and two sisters, Dorothy Zitzlsperger, Carroll, and Mrs. Margaret Jarvis, Columbus, Nebraska.

Mrs. Hoffman was preceded in death by her husband and the following brothers and sisters: George Zitzlsperger, Mrs. Mary Simons, Mrs. Kate Bayer, Mrs. Ann Bayer, Mrs. Francis Bayer, Veronica Zitzlsperger and John Zitzlsperger.
