In Memory of Clarence R.J. David

Funeral service was held for Clarence David on Saturday, December 7, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. Casketbearers were Lance Lage, Brian Lage, Joel David, Matthew David, Jeremy David, and Nick Jensen.

Clarence Reuben John David, the son of Albert Herman and Minna Avina Borkowski David, was born September 8, 1905, on his parent's farm in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa and died December 3, 2002, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 97 years, 2 months and 25 days.

Clarence was baptized in 1905 and confirmed in 1919 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township. He attended rural school in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, Iowa and attended Manning High School, then helped operate the family farm.

On December 28, 1927, he was united in marriage to Beata Helena Dorthea Schade at Trinity Lutheran Church. They operated several different farms in Audubon County. They retired from farming in 1967 and moved into Audubon. Clarence was the groundskeeper at Greenbrier Golf Course, Littlefield Park, and other areas for several years. Clarence became a resident of the Friendship Home in Audubon on February 29, 1988. Beata died March 21, 1989. Clarence was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. He was Lincoln County Assessor for many years. Clarence and his sister and brothers were gifted with vocal and instrumental musical talent and sang and played together extensively for house parties.

Preceding him in death in addition to his wife were his sister, Edna and husband William Friedrichsen; his brothers: Alfred and wife, Wilda David; Emil and wife, Lena David; Hugo and wife, Fyrmith David; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: an infant, John Schade; Raymond and wife, Phyllis Schade; Merle Schade; Laura and husband, Fred Rudnick; Leona and husband, Fred Starck; Wilma and husband, Herbert Ullerich and Henry Reuwsaat.

He is survived by his children: Ardith and Walter Lage of Manning, Iowa; Lyle and Colleen David and Carlene and John Deist, all of Audubon, Iowa; his grandchildren: Lance and JoEllen Lage of Atlantic, Iowa; Brian and Kathy Lage of Manning, Iowa; Joel and Jamie David of Glidden, Iowa; Matthew and Kathleen David of West Liberty, Iowa; and Lana Jensen of Audubon; his great-grandchildren: Fay Ellen Lage of Maryville, Missouri; Ashley Lage and Eric Lage both of Manning; Jeremy David, Jessica David, and Jaycie David, all of Glidden; Nick Jensen, Kelsey Jensen, and Nathan Jensen, all of Audubon; his sisters-in-law: Viola Reuwsaat of Denison, Iowa and Donna Schade of Gainesville, Georgia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
