He came to Manning in the year 1880 with his nephew, John Albert, who died some years ago and since Mr. Albert remarried, he has continued to make his home there. He was a good, kind old gentleman, very quiet and always believed in doing things to please his fellow man. He was injured and made a cripple for life by falling from a loaded wagon and having his hip dislocated some years ago.

Claus Albert was born in Quamburg, Rensburg, Schleswig Holstein, Germany December 24, 1821, came to Canada May 10, 1865. From Canada he came to Davenport, Iowa, where he resided a number of years, and from Davenport he moved to Goose Lake and from there to Manning in the year 1880 as before stated.

He leaves his niece Mrs. J.H. Wunder and her sons John, Henry, George, and Emil his nearest relatives in Manning to mourn his loss; also a number of relatives in Germany and Canada. The funeral was held from the home last Saturday afternoon, Rev. William Martens of the German Lutheran Church officiated, after which the remains were laid to rest the Manning Cemetery.
