Claus Henry Hass Retired Farmer of Denison, Passes Away

Mr. Claus Henry Hass, of Denison, passed away at the Denison hospital on Tuesday morning, August 18, 1925, at 2:00 o'clock; cancer being the cause of his death. He had reacted the age of 68 years. His death is mourned by his wife, four children, one brother in Germany, one sister and 15 grandchildren.

The funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 o'clock P.M., at the Lutheran Church, and interment will be made in the Hayes Township Cemetery.

Claus Henry Hass was born July 18, 1857, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. At the age of 16 years he came to America and Carroll County, Iowa, where he began working on a farm near Westside. On March 7, 1883, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Marie Meeves and to this union four children were born, namely; Ella, Mrs. George Beck of Hayes Township; Tina, Mrs. Carl Otto, Iowa Township, Julius and William, both of Hayes Township.

In 1921 Mr. Hass retired from active work, and he and his wife moved to Denison. However, he could not enjoy the fruits of his labor he desired, having become afflicted with an incurable malady which gradually became more aggravated, and made life very unpleasant. On last Sunday he was taken to the Denison hospital, and upon close examination it was found that the days of his earthly sojourn were limited, and he departed this life as above stated.
