Willis of the First Methodist Church, Kearney, Nebraska, officiated the service with music provided by the Presbyterian Choir, Julia Johnson Rothenberg, and Connie Siepker as organist. Interment was held in the Manning City Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Dean Fara, Leroy Dammann, Dale Ehlers, Dale Fries, Claus Bunz and Emmett Mullen as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Art Rix, Lyle Arp, Adolph Fries, Erwin Hansen, Cliff Tank, Albert Musfeldt and Albert Andresen.

Clifford, son of Chris and Johanna Kjeldgaard Johnson, was born September 19, 1908, in Manning, Iowa. His parents had just moved to town and enjoyed the community so much they gave the baby Manning as a middle name. Bud attended Manning schools, graduating in 1926. While in school and after graduation he helped his father run the shoe store on Main Street. During this time he took music lessons at Drake University and sang with the Omaha Opera as well as the local Liederkranz, the Carroll Men's Chorus and the Elks' Chorus.

On October 7, 1934, Bud was united in marriage with Letha Boysen at the Presbyterian Church in Manning. Two daughters were born to this union. After his father died, Bud continued to run the shoe store and participated in his many musical groups which kept him from home many days and evenings. In 1953 Bud sold the shoe store to Emmett Mullen and began working at Dultmeier Manufacturing. He bought into the company and the name was changed to MJM for McGrath, Johnson, and Musfeldt. Bud retired from that business in 1973 but continued to live in Manning.

Bud was active in the First Presbyterian Church where he served as choir director for over 40 years. He was also active in the Democratic Party and was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and Rotary. In addition to his many musical activities, Bud thoroughly enjoyed gardening and, when he was able, had a yard full of wonderful flowers for each season.

Bud struggled with many health problems later in life and, after being in Omaha for many months, had recently entered the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn for rehabilitation and to be near his wife. His death on Saturday, April 16, 1994, at the Home was sudden and unexpected. He was 85 years, 6 months and 28 days of age.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by five sisters: Christine Hagedorn, Julia Berkstrasser, Lillian Willis, Esther Johnson, and Juanita Tomlinson and by three brothers: Thomas Johnson, as a child, William Johnson and George Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Letha, of Manning; his daughters: Marie and her husband, Dr. E. Roger Hren, of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Dr. Julia and her husband, Dr. Albert Rothenberg, of Canaan, New York; five grandchildren: Kimberly Hren of Conyers, Georgia; Jenny Hren of Las Cruces, New Mexico; Michael Rothenberg and his wife, Jennifer, of Boston, Massachusetts; Mora Rothenberg of Boston, Massachusetts and Rina Rothenberg, of San Francisco, California; a sister, Dorothy Lovett, of El Paso, Texas; a cousin, Niels Jorgensen of Gjerlev, Denmark; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
