DELORES ROSE "DEE" HAMMER
Delores Rose, daughter of Ludwig and Hilda Marie Volquartsen Hammer, was born August 8, 1931 in Manning, Iowa. On October 18, 1931, she was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She was confirmed March 25, 1945. Dee attended school in Manning, graduating with the class of 1949.

Dee worked as a secretary in Manning for Merle Stoelk and Dultmeiers, Inc. She then moved to Denison and continued working as a secretary for Crawford County Extension Service, ASCS Office, Denison Hide, Crawford County Sheriff's Office, and Crawford County Engineer's Office. Due to poor health, Dee retired in 1992.

On Thursday, October 16, 1997, Dee died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Omaha, Nebraska, following a lengthy illness. She reached the age of 66 years, 2 months, and 8 days.
Dee was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She enjoyed traveling and shopping and loved watching sports and spending time with friends.

Besides her parents, Dee was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Ludwig "Louie" Hammer, and a sister, Florence "Flo" Christiansen.

Dee is survived by three sisters: Ruth Jensen, of Manning; Margaret Bilsten, of Manning; and Dorothy and her husband, Donald Grundmeier, of Westside; two sisters-in-law: Beverly Hammer, of Boone; Anita Hammer, of Denison; one brother-in-law, Charles Christiansen, of Dow City; and by several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heavens:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted:
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up:
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing:
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Eccl 3:1-8
