Delores Betty, daughter of Alfred and Elsie (Schroeder) Rix, was born July 1, 1928, on a farm in Crawford County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Pastor John M. Ansorge at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She attended Washington No. 4 country school with her brother, Donald. Delores graduated from Manning High School in 1946 and taught in rural school for a time.

On August 18, 1946, Delores was united in marriage with Arthur Ernest Kuhn with Pastor Ansorge officiating. They were the parents of three children Kay, David and Kristyn. The family lived and farmed south of Manning for 56 years. They were active members of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Delores and Art enjoyed square dancing, of which Delores served as secretary for Belles and Beaus Square Dance Club. They also enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally, and taking their grandchildren to Adventureland. Delores served as past president and secretary of Zion Ladies Aid, was a zone officer of LWML, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for 40 years. Delores was an active member of Tri-County Social club for many, many years. She was also an active member of the Shelby County Republican Party and Farm Bureau. In addition, she enjoyed quilting at church, sewing, playing Pinochle and Euchre. Above all, Delores was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

After Art's death on March 7, 2002, she remained on the farm until she purchased a home in Manning, moving there in October 2003. Delores maintained an active lifestyle until late 2016 when she was diagnosed with cancer. She moved to hospice care in Omaha in December to be near her family. Surprisingly, her health continued to rally and she enjoyed many visits with her family and dear friends until mid-February. At that time her health steadily declined until Sunday, March 12, 2017, when she passed away at Josie Harper Residence Hospice House in Omaha at the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 11 days of age. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; two brothers Donald (Donna) Rix and Allen Rix; and in-laws Helen (John) Weible, Robert (Jean) Kuhn, Marge (Melvin) Kusel and Ruth (William) Metcalf.

Delores is survived by her three children Kay (Dale) Guenther of Omaha, David (Paula) Kuhn of North Liberty and Kristyn (John) Dobler of Omaha; six grandchildren and two step grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; brother Larry (Dorothy) Rix of Des Moines; sister-in-law Beverly Rix of Manning; brother in-law Orrin (Kay) Kuhn of West Union; many other relatives and friends.
