Delores Lidbeck, age 82, of Bird Island died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at her home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. all at the Dirks-Blem Funeral Home in Bird Island. Rev. George Schmit will officiate at the funeral. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Bird Island at a later date.

Delores Theresa Lidbeck was born July 23, 1930, at Manning, Iowa, to William and Theresa (Fuchs) Wanninger. She grew up at Manning and after high school she traveled to Bird Island, Minnesota, to visit with cousins. It was at Bird Island that she met Roy Lidbeck whom she married on November 28, 1949. Roy and Delores were the parents of three sons and made their home in Bird Island. Delores was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the CCW. Delores did daycare for 40 years and was affectionately known as "Grandma" to many children. Roy even helped Delores with the daycare after his retirement. Delores was a meticulous housekeeper, was a great cook, and enjoyed making cookies and tending her vegetable garden.

Delores is survived by her two sons: Larry (Sharon) Lidbeck of Bird Island and Al (Lori) Lidbeck of Bird Island; her four grandchildren: Emily (Rafael) Harrington, Scott (Kristin) Lidbeck, James Lidbeck and special friend Veronica, and Bridget (Peter) Nez; her seven great-grandchildren; her two sisters: Sally (Harry) Reiman of Carroll, Iowa, and Pauline (Duane) Irlmeier of Templeton, Iowa; her brother Billy (Lou) Wanninger of Manning, Iowa; her brother-in-law Merlin Zubrod of Templeton, Iowa; and her half-siblings Patricia, Lois, Mark, and Theresa Jane. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother Theresa Wanninger, her husband Roy Lidbeck, her son Dale Lidbeck, and her sister Marilyn Zubrod. Blessed Be Her Memory.
