Diana M. Dau

Diana M. Dau, 89, of Davenport, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Per her wishes she will be cremated with a memorial Mass at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church at a later date. She will be laid to rest in Pinehill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to her church. Online tributes and condolences may be made at www.therungemortuary.com.

Diana was born July 27, 1927, in Colon Matanza, Cuba, a daughter of Pio and Francisca Rosenada. Diana and her mother left Cuba in 1962 with only the clothes on their backs. After arriving in the U.S they lived in Miami for approximately one year and moved to Manning, Iowa, where she taught Spanish and French. She graduated from the University of Iowa with a master's degree in P.H.D. Education. Later they moved to Davenport where she taught Spanish at Palmer College of Chiropractic and later at Augustana College.

After retirement she taught Spanish at John F. Kennedy Catholic School, Davenport.

She was united in marriage to George A. Dau on January 13, 1968, in Davenport.

Diana was very proud to become an American citizen. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith and made more than 25,000 rosaries donated to the missions and to the military over the years. She belonged to the Marian Movement of Priests and held cenacles in her home for many years.

Those honoring her memory are her niece Diana M. Rosenada and great-nieces, Vanessa and Stephanie Hernandez, Miami Florida; great-great-nephew Liam; great-great niece Audrey and many friends. She was preceded by her parents, husband, and brother Lionel Rosenada. May they rest in peace.

Note: it is probably a coincidence about George Dau - if he was connected to the Manning Dau family.
