Diane, daughter of Marvin and Emma (Speyer) Jentzen, was born July 6, 1944, at Carroll, Iowa. For most of her youth Diane was raised by her grandparents Frank and Dena Jentzen. She attended school in Arcadia and graduated from Ar-We-Va High School. She worked at the Carroll County Auditor's office for a time before her marriage. On August 22, 1964, Diane was united in marriage with Bob Henkelman at Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia.

Diane worked at the Liquor Store in Manning, and later as the manager of the store in Manilla. Through the years she also worked at Wells Manufacturing, Burcliff Industries, Plastico and Duckwalls. Her favorite job was being a cook at the IKM-Manning school. Diane loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed many hours sitting on the front porch with Bob or going on drives all over the countryside. Diane was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning and volunteered at the Hausbarn Heritage Park.

Diane maintained her positive attitude and fought cancer until her last breath. After a short stay at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center, Diane died there on Sunday morning, April 22, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was 73 years, 9 months, and 16 days of age.
