In Memory of Dianna Kastner

Funeral services were held at 11 A.M., Thursday, March 8, 2012, at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, Iowa. Rev. Chris Burtnett officiated the service and graveside rites held at Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Organist Wendy Bumann provided accompaniment for congregational hymns, "Amazing Grace" and "The Old Rugged Cross." A recording of "How Great Thou Art," by Elvis Presley was also played. Honorary Pallbearers were Samantha Murray, Nathaniel Kastner, Dalton Murray, Lillian Kastner, Megan Kragel, Tristan Kunze, Nolan Kragel, Skyler Kelm, and Trey Kunze. Serving as Pallbearers were Gene Rasmussen, Jeff Sebeniecher, Eric Rasmussen, Russell Maack, Corey Kastner, Kurt Kastner, Louie Maack, and Cal Kastner.

Following the service the family invited everyone to return to the church for fellowship and lunch provided by Staley's and served by the Women's Guild.

Dianna Jane Kastner was born on March 7, 1946, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, to William (Bill) and Hazel (Gessmann) Volquartsen.

She passed away Saturday, March 3, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of sixty-five.

Dianna attended Manning School and graduated from Manning High School in 1964. After graduation Dianna went to AIB in Des Moines, Iowa, earning a degree in Accounting.

After graduation she proceeded to work for AIB for a short time. She decided to return to Carroll and began working in the office at St. Anthony's Hospital, which she did for several years. Then she met her husband Larry Kastner. They were married on June 16, 1968, at the Presbyterian Church in Manning, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Charter Oak, Iowa, and was blessed with the birth of four children. After raising their four children, Dianna went back to work at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison and Crawford County Transit.

Dianna loved to cook, bake, camp and go fishing. She loved to play cards with family and friends, but most of all she loved babysitting her grandchildren and helping them with homework.

Dianna was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Larry; four children: Tamara and her husband, Marty; Tracy and his wife, Lisa; Patricia and her husband, Roger; Erica and her husband, Brian; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene and her husband, John; Doris and her husband, Rex; three brothers-in-law: Loren and his wife, Shirley; Lodean; Lonnie; one sister-in-law: Leila and her husband Larry; many other relatives and friends.

The Huebner Funeral Home in Charter Oak was in charge of arrangements.
