Dolores P. daughter of Edward and Dorothea (Vinke) Grimm, was born January 27, 1920, in Manning, Carroll County, Iowa, where she grew up and attended school. After completing her schooling Dolores worked at Priebe & Son's Hatchery.

On October 31, 1939, Dolores was united in marriage with John James Balukoff in Carroll. Two children were born to this union. Dolores and John made their home in Carroll until 1946 when they moved to Dedham and operated a bar and restaurant called Johnny's Place. Johnny died in the spring of 1967 and Dolores moved to Manning that fall, where she later worked as a sales clerk at numerous businesses in town. She then worked several years as a nurse's aide at Manning Plaza Nursing Home and then at the hospital.

Dolores was a charter member of the Dedham American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Manning. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, visiting with friends, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

On Friday, September 5, 2003, Dolores died of kidney failure at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, Iowa. She was 83 years, 7 months, and 9 days of age.

Besides her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in death by all her 12 brothers and sisters: 3 in infancy, Henry Grimm, Julius Grimm, and Edna Grimm; Leona Schroeder, Edwin Grimm, Paul Grimm, Melvin Grimm, Ernest Grimm, Dorothy Mohr, Clousie Grimm, George Grimm, and Willis Grimm.

She is survived by a son Jan Balukoff and wife Beverly of Herald, California; a daughter Gay Wiskus and husband Bob of Manning; grandchildren: Lisa Kelso and husband Jake; Jeff Balukoff and wife Tammy; John Balukoff and wife Jennifer; Jason Balukoff and special friend Kristin; Tina Musser and husband Clark; Terri Brincks and husband Bryce; Steve Wiskus; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Elbert Grimm, Muriel Grimm Alger, Virginia Grimm, Hilda Balukoff, Marie Burns, Tony and Jo Balukoff, Wayne Shutt, Stella and Robert Jacobs, and Beverly Balukoff; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
