Donald Lampman

Donald Lampman, age 68, of Manning, died Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at the St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning. The Celebrant will be Fr. John Gerald. Mass servers will be Jenna and McKenna Mullen. Music for the funeral mass will be by Anne Muhlbauer and the Sacred Heart Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Don Luensmann. Gift Bearers will be Don's grandchildren. Eucharistic Minister will be Pat Vogl. Casket Bearers will be: Austin Lampman, Dan Wittrock, David Wittrock, Dale Wittrock, John Riesselman, and Gary Riesselman.

Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Arcadia with military honors conducted by the Arcadia American Legion.

Friends may call at Sacred Heart Church in Manning after 4 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Monday at church and continue until time of the funeral mass.

Memorials may be left at the church for Sacred Heart Parish or Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation.

Born on August 28, 1947, at Carroll, Iowa, Donald was the son of Edward and Viola (Schweers) Lampman. Don grew up on the family farm north of Manning and attended St. John School in Arcadia and later graduated with the Class of 1965 from Kuemper Catholic High School. Following his schooling he served in the Army National Guard from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1972.

On August 30, 1969, Don was united in marriage to Cassandra Vogl at St. John Catholic Church in Arcadia. The couple made their home near Halbur and later Mt. Carmel before moving to the Lampman family farm near Manning. Don was engaged in farming and also worked at Snappy Popcorn in Breda until his retirement.

He had a passion for farming; loved collecting and restoring tractors and always enjoyed the tractor rides with his sons. His greatest joy was spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. Don was a lifetime member of the Arcadia American Legion where he served as past commander and was active with the color guard. Don had a deep devotion to his faith being an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Manning where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of the Midwest Iowa Old Iron Club.

Left to celebrate his life is his wife Sandy Lampman of Manning; his children: Jeff (Amy) Lampman of Webster City, Alan (Tina) Lampman of Carroll, Eric (Kimberly) Lampman of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Scott Lampman of Manning, Becky (Roy) Skinner of Sloan, Brenda (Tony) Nicholson of Sergeant Bluff, and Kevin (Rebecca) Lampman of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; his grandchildren: Courtney Lampman, Austin Lampman, Kalei Lampman, Koby Lampman, Karsyn Lampman, Kyrsten Lampman, Paige Lampman, Shelby Skinner, Cassie Skinner, Holly Skinner, Anna Nicholson, Payton Lampman, and Olivia Lampman; his siblings: JoAnn (Andy) Riesselman of Carroll, Berniece Wittrock of Carroll, Ralph (Karen) Lampman of Arcadia, and Mary (Ron) Sievers of Randall; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Diane (Gene) Meiners of Templeton, Vickie (Randy) Wolterman of Arcadia, Pat Vogl of Arcadia, Bev Vonnahme of Arcadia, Ed (Debra) Vogl of Arcadia, Doreen (Ken) Berg of Ames, Tony (Barb) Vogl of Arcadia, Mae (Bruce) Vonnahme of Arcadia, Tim (Donna) Vogl of Arcadia, Bob (Michelle) Vogl of Arcadia, and Lisa (Steve) Hausman of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Viola Lampman; his parents-in-law, Ed and Dorothy Vogl; his sister-in-law, Carol Vogl; and his brothers-in-law, Gerald Wittrock and Loren Vonnahme.

Following the burial at St. John's Cemetery in Arcadia there will be a luncheon and a time of fellowship at the Arcadia Legion Hall.
