DEATH NOTICE

Donna M. Joens, 58, of Council Bluffs died December 24, 1989. Services were held Thursday, December 28, 1989, at 11:00 a.m. at Meyer, Funeral Home. Reverend Johnathon Schultz of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church of Omaha officiated the service with Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Merlin H. Joens (brother of Donald "Bonnie" Joens of Manning); four daughters: Dianne Jones of Glenwood; Martha M. Rief, Sandra Carberry, and Janet Joens all of Council Bluffs; two sons, James and Chris Joens both of Council Bluffs; mother, Ella Neubaum of Denison; sister, LaJune Smith of Las Cruses, New Mexico; two brothers, Robert Neubaum of El Paso, Texas and Gary Neubaum of Easley, South Carolina; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Donna M. Joens, 58, 2303 Avenue died Sunday, December 24, 1989, at Mercy Hospital of undisclosed causes. She was born in Mapleton in 1931, daughter of Bernard and Ella (Stier) Neubaum, and had lived in Council Bluffs since 1953.

Mrs. Joens was a member of the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Synod, the Christian Women's Circle and the American Association for Retired Persons. She graduated from Manning High School in 1949.

Mrs. Joens is survived by her husband, Merlin H. Joens; four daughters, Dianna Joens of Glenwood, Martha M. Rief, Sandra Carberry and Janet Joens, all of Council Bluffs; two sons, James Joens and Chris Joens, both of Council Bluffs; her mother, Ella Neubaum of Denison; a sister, LaJune Smith of Las Cruses, New Mexico; two brothers, Robert Neubaum of El Paso, Texas, and Gary Neubaum of Easley, South Carolina; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Funeral Home. The Rev. Jonathon Schultz, pastor of the Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Synod, in Omaha, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church.
