OBITUARY OF DONNA M. JOENS
Donna Mae Joens, the daughter of Roy and Leona (Ohde) Sander, was born December 13, 1927, in Manning, Iowa, and died March 24, 2003, at the age of 75 years, 3 months, and 11 days.

She was baptized at the Presbyterian Church in Manning in 1945 and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at First Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska on March 30, 1947. Donna attended Manning Community Schools, graduating from Manning High School with the Class of 1945. She then was employed at United Benefit Insurance in Omaha until she was married to Lyle Joens on January 18, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. They lived in Manning where she was employed at the Manning Monitor, Nelson Manufacturing Company and Anderson Clinic in Manning. In January of 1973, they moved to Audubon and Donna was employed at Jensen Clothing Store in Audubon.

Donna was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies' Missionary Guild and a member of the Audubon County Hospital Auxiliary. Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Lyle Joens of Audubon; her son, Keith and his wife, Anna of Annandale, VA; her daughter, Kathleen Carlton of Chicago, IL and her companion, Frank Whobrey; her grandchildren: Carrie Joens of the U.S. Air Force in Georgia and Christopher Joens of Dallas, Texas; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Orland and wife, Barbara Joens of Marshalltown, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bradley Ketcham on Friday, March 28, 2003, at 10:30 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. Interment will be in the Manning Cemetery in Manning, Iowa. Honorary casket bearers will be: Paul Cox, Gary Fancher, Mel Knudson, Alan Kusel, Glen Kusel, Dan Schmidt, Dean Schmidt, Ferry Schmidt, Phil Steffens and Alan Stribe. Casket bearers will be: Bud Borcherding, Lester Joens, Chuck Kauffman, Larry Nielsen, Bernie Owen, Bill Sander, Duane Schmidt, and Merlene (Tom) Thompson.
