Mrs. Dora Eckholdt Is Laid To Rest

Funeral services for a well known pioneer resident of this vicinity were held Friday afternoon when last rites were held for Mrs. Dora Eckholdt, who was found dead in her home on Third Street early Wednesday morning, August 3, 1938. Rev. Elmer Otte of Mapleton had charge of the services which were held at the Ohde Funeral Home. Interment was in the Manning cemetery.

The deceased was born February 5, 1861 at Holstein, Germany, and when three years of age came with her parents to Davenport, Iowa, later moving to Clinton. She was married to Edward Eckholdt at Walnut, Iowa, when twenty years of age and they moved to a farm north of Arcadia in the year 1884; then to Audubon County for several years. They moved to Manning in 1901. Mr. Eckholdt passed away in September 1927.
At the time of her death Mrs. Eckholdt was 87 years, 6 months and 29 days of age.

Surviving her are six children: Albert, Mainert, Jerry; Mrs. Joe Heider of Manning, Mrs. A. H. Mohr of Arcadia, and Mrs. Wm. Hamann of Irwin.

Pallbearers were six of her grandchildren.

Mohr, Mr. David Mohr, Mr. Adolph Stieper, Mr. and Mrs. John Rix, Mrs. H. Dora Eckholdt is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
