CORVALLIS - Former Corvallis resident Dorothy L. Ehrichs, 80, died Saturday at Fox Hollow Care Center in Eugene.
She was born in Hepler, Kan., to Dan and Emma (Brauner) Granneman. She moved to Corvallis where she spent most of her life. She graduated from Corvallis High School in 1939. She moved to Eugene in 2000.
She married Glenn Ehrichs on Aug. 1, 1943, in Corvallis, and he died in December 1998.
For more than 30 years, Mrs. Ehrichs worked in secretarial and administrative positions for Oregon State University. She attained a lifelong goal when she received her bachelor's degree in journalism from Oregon State University in 1985, at age 64.
Mrs. Ehrichs was active on campus and in many clubs and professional organizations. She belonged to Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.
Her favorite activities included reading to herself and to others, photography, knitting, needlework, traveling and crafts. She was fond of her companion dog, Pixie.
Surviving are daughters Emlee Lassiter of Eugene and Sharon Edwards of Albany; sister Vernalee Marley of Arvada, Colo.; and grandchildren Carla and Bobby O'Neal, Pamm Nicholsen, Tyler Edwards, Shawn Ehrichs and Jennifer Lassiter. There are eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son Dennis, twin sister Doris Anderson and sister Maxine Rodgers.
A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 2650 N.W. Highland Drive, Corvallis, with Pastor Pat Chuinard officiating.
