Dorothy Elizabeth Eickman, daughter of Henry and Anna (Irlbeck) Schwabe was born December 11, 1930, in Maple River, Iowa. She attended St. Francis School in Maple River. After school she assisted families with newborns in their home and helped on the family farm.

On January 26, 1949, Dorothy was united in marriage with Maurice Eickman and to this union they were blessed with seven children: Linda, Betty, Glen, Lynn, Mary Jane, Janice, and Lori. Dorothy was a housewife and helped Maurice on the farm with everything outdoors including the livestock and field work. She did all the bookkeeping for the family farm and always cooked every meal from scratch. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would always look for her frosted sugar cookies and frozen fruit cups. Dorothy was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church and the ladies Guild.

On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, Dorothy died at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa attaining the age of 87. She and Maurice would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this coming January.
