OBITUARY OF
Dorothy R. Groteluschen

Mrs. Dorothy Groteluschen was born July 11, 1911 to parents Bertel and Marie (Rassmussen) Jensen in Audubon, Iowa. She died August 14, 2005 at the Friendship Home in Audubon at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 3 days.

Dorothy graduated from Audubon High School in 1929 and was a member of the National High School Orchestra, performing in Chicago in 1929. Dorothy attended Simpson College, where she played in the Simpson College String Quartette, and received her BA degree from Drake University in 1964. She married Herb Groteluschen in 1935 and they lived in Manning, Iowa. An accomplished musician, Dorothy taught piano, violin and guitar as well as serving as the organist and choir director at the First Presbyterian and Zion Lutheran Churches in Manning, St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon, and the Hamlin Lutheran Church. Her career included teaching in the public schools in Manning and Sac City. She lived in her own home until she moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon in December of 2004.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1988, her son-in-law, Jim Buckles, three sisters, and four brothers.

She is survived by three children: Janis Ruth Buckles of Denver, CO, Jon Kingdon Groteluschen and his wife Marelle of Aiken, SC, and Pamela Noelle Bansbach and her husband Dutch of Denver, CO; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two sisters, Alice Christiansen and Irene Starrett, both of Audubon.

Casket bearers will be Lyle Jones, Charles (Chuck) Kauffman, Clark (Sam) Kauffman, Bill Groteluschen, Ken Christiansen and Keith Christiansen.

Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa.

Everyone is invited to join the family for lunch in the church basement social room following the committal service.
