Mrs. Carl Hinze

Mrs. Carl Hinze, of Arcadia mother of C. F. Hinze, city Marshall of Carroll, died at the home of son Sunday morning, January 12.

Mrs. Hinze came to Carroll December 23 to spend the holiday season at the home of her son. She was feeling well until a few days before her death when she was taken sick with bronchial pneumonia

Mrs. Hinze was born in Buchholz, Germany, November 8, 1838, and before her marriage to Charles Hinze in 1863, was Miss Dorothea Koepke. Four years after their marriage Charles and Mrs. Hinze came to America, moving to Chicago where they lived from 1867 to 1873. At this time they moved to a farm south of Arcadia. They made their home there until 1892, when they moved to Arcadia where Mrs. Hinze lived until death. Mr. Hinze died January 1910, but Mrs. Hinze still kept the old home, preferring to live in her own home among her many associates.

She was a woman loved admired by all with whom she came in contact and will be greatly missed by her relatives and many friends.

Of the seven children born to and Mrs. Hinze, four died in infancy: Two died later, and there is but one survivor, Charles F. Hinze of ?? City. She also leaves to mourn ?? grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Presbyterian church at Arcadia Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Hinze was a devout member of this church.

Mr. Ringgold, assisted by Rev. Walters, conducted the services. Interment was made in the Arcadia cemetery.
