In Memory of DOROTHY LUSSMAN

Dorothy Lussman, age 95, of Carroll, died Sunday, November 29, 2015, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2015, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson.

Music will be by Sue Feilmeier with Jake Gute as cantor. Lector for the funeral mass will be Lori Seidl. Gift Bearers will be Jagar Vanderheiden and Trevin Vanderheiden. Casket Bearers will be: Tony Troutman, Scott Volquartsen, Nic Volquartsen, Marty Vanderheiden, Chris Beyerink, and Chad Kanne. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Thursday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m.

The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9:30 a.m. on Friday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on September 17, 1920, at Manning, Iowa, Dorothy was the daughter of Julius "Jewel" and Margaret "Maggie" (Vollmer) Rowedder. She was raised in Manning and graduated from Manning High School in 1938. Following her schooling she married Paul Volquartsen; to this union were two children. In 1993 Paul passed away and she later met and married Wilbert Lussman on January 24, 1997. The couple made their home in Carroll. Dorothy enjoyed bingo, playing cards, music, dancing, and trips to the casino. Dorothy always loved decorating her home and cherished spending time with her entire family.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Wilbert Lussman of Carroll; her son, Tom Volquartsen of Carroll; her daughter, Beth Troutman of Dedham; her daughter-in-law, Linda Volquartsen of Carroll; her step-children: Roxanne Maxiner of Ft. Dodge, Richard Lussman of Ft. Dodge, Robert Lussman, and Jeff (Cheryl) Lussman of Muscatine; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Donna McGrane of Carroll; her sisters-in-law: Zelda Anderson of Arcadia and LaDonna (Don) Mohr of Carroll; as well as several nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Paul Volquartsen; her son-in-law, Mike Troutman; her brother, Jim (Mary) Rowedder; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Cletus McGrane, Elvin Anderson, Hilma (Lynel) Onken, and Caroline (Charles) Bowman.
