Funeral Services for Earl "Snuffy" Hoffman were held Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Manning, Iowa. Celebrant was Reverend Andrew Hoffmann, with Elmer Langel as Lector, Merlyn lrlbeck as Eucharistic Minister, and Shelby Hansen and Ericka Tank as Mass Servers. Music was provided by the Sacred Heart Choir with Pat Heithoff as organist. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning Iowa.

Earl Michael, son of Lawrence and Clara (Zitzlsperger) Hoffman, was born August 21, 1918, near Glidden in Carroll County, Iowa. He attended Catholic school at Roselle. After completing his schooling, he moved with his parents to a farm north of Manning where he worked with his parents. He also worked with Ed Hinz doing carpentry. During the Great Depression Earl worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps at Lake View and then started trucking. He trucked with Elmer Fischer and Claus Nielsen for many years. About seven years before his retirement he worked for L. R. Nelson in Manning.

After the deaths of his parents, Earl lived with his sister Harriet until she moved to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. At that time Earl moved to the Terrace Apartments. When his health began to fail in 1999, he entered the nursing home.

Earl was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Manning and, for many years, the Manning Fire Department. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and crewing at stock car races.
Earl died rather unexpectedly at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center emergency room on Thursday, July 22, 2004, at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 1 day.

Preceding Earl in death are his parents and brother-in-law Leo Bluml.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers: Harriet Hoffman of Manning; Phyllis Bluml of Denison; Jule Hoffman and wife Ellen of Wheaton, IL; William Hoffman of Manning and Marian and husband Ed Long of Carroll; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
