Edna, daughter of Walter and Elizabeth (Kuhl) Mohr, was born July 30, 1904, near Manning, Iowa. She attended country school near her home. On September 16, 1925, she was united in marriage with Roy S. Hiatt. They farmed various places near Manning and in 1936 moved to Irwin, Iowa. In 1944 they moved to Manning where her husband worked at Dultmeier Manufacturing. Throughout her life, Edna was a homemaker and in her spare time enjoyed and excelled in various forms of handiwork, especially tatting. After her husband's death on April 30, 1964, Edna remained in their home for a number of years until she moved to the Elm Crest Apartments. In 1984 she became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. During her active years she was a member of the Royal Neighbors Society and the Woman's Relief Corps. She was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries.

Edna died on Thursday, May 11, 1989, at Manning General Hospital as a result of complications of emergency surgery earlier in the week. She was 84 years, 9 months, and 11 days of age.

Besides her husband, Edna was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Melitta Mohr and by two grandchildren in infancy.

Edna is survived by her children: Chester Mohr and his wife, Eileene, of Mesa, Arizona; Velma and her husband, Glen Huey, of Irwin; Ronnie Hiatt and his wife, Ruth, of Manning; Raymond Hiatt and his wife, Charlotte, of Ralston, Nebraska; and Priscilla Ferryman, of Irwin; by 18 grandchildren; by 20 great-grandchildren; by a sister-in-law, Ollie Mohr, of Manning; and by other relatives and friends.
