Edna Ann, daughter of Henry and Anna (Eggers) Brus, was born October 15, 1912, near Aspinwall, Iowa. She graduated from Manilla High School in 1930. After completing her normal training Edna taught country school.

On August 2, 1933, Edna was united in marriage with William "Willie" Bernhardt Lohrmann at Denison. They were the parents of three children. Willie and Edna lived near Vail when they were first married and then moved to a farm near Buck Grove. From there the family moved to a farm north of Manilla for 25 years before purchasing their own farm on the black-top road to Denison in 1962. In October of 1982 Willie and Edna moved to their home in Manilla. Through the years Edna kept busy with farmwork, gardening, canning and baking. She and Willie loved to go to dances together. Edna thoroughly enjoyed fishing trips with the entire family.

Edna was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla and one of the first members of the Priscilla Guild. In her later years she excelled at fancy work, including china painting and china dolls.

Willie was Edna's devoted caregiver until she moved to Eventide Nursing Home in Denison in January of 2007. He died in 2010 after 77 years of marriage. Edna died peacefully at Eventide on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at the age of 100 years, 8 months and 1 day.

Preceding her in death are her parents; daughter-in-law Dorothy Lohrmann; grandson James Lohrmann; brothers: John Brus, Henry Brus (Margaret), Ed Brus, Hugo Brus (Elvera), Carl Brus, Melvin Brus; and two sisters in infancy.
