EDWARD "EDDY" DAHLEEN

Edward (Eddy) Dahleen was born on a farm in Ida County, northwest of Kiron, Iowa, December 26, 1931, the son of Henry and Catherine (Simons) Dahleen. He was baptized December 31, 1944, and later confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Iowa, March 7, 1954.

His parents lived on several different farms in Crawford County and Eddy attended the country schools near their homes. He then attended Denison High School until his father's health forced him to stay home and help with the farm work.

On March 30, 1952, Eddy was united in marriage with Darlyne Thomssen at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Their union was blessed with four children: Janine, Bruce, Brenda and Troy. They made their home at Battle Creek, Iowa, where Eddy was employed at Miller Implement, Bill's Radiator Shop and on the farm before moving to Aspinwall, Iowa, in 1956 where he was employed at the local Co-op. In 1964 they moved to Denison where Eddy was employed at Ehrichs' Motors until they retired. He then was Warranty Manager at Midwestern Trucking until they closed, and from 1980 until retiring in 1995, he was Inventory Manager for Crouse Cartage in Carroll.

Eddy was a proud and meticulous man and his Swedish heritage showed with his love of a good joke, story or prank. Give him a good band and music and you would find him on the dance floor with Darlyne.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison.
