Ed was born on October 15, 1907, near Manilla, Iowa, to Henry and Anna (Lorenzen) Ehrichs. Later the family moved to a farm near Egan, South Dakota, and then to Flandreau where he worked for 12 years in a grocery store. He married Myrtle Larson on June 20, 1940, at Garretson, South Dakota. Myrtle passed away October, 19, 1989, in Flandreau. They owned and operated the Gamble Store in Flandreau for 31 years. Myrtle preceded him in death on October 19, 1989. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church.

He is survived by one son, Dr. Larry Ehrichs and his wife, Linda, Castle Rock, Colorado; three grandchildren: Edward, Elizabeth and John. He is preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle, parents and one brother, Raymond.
