REV. EDWARD F. HEINICKE

Funeral services for Pastor Edward F. Heinicke were held Friday, February 16, 1990, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
While vacationing in Texas, Pastor Heinicke suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. He was hospitalized in Aransas Pass, Texas, for nine days where he died Monday, February 12, 1990, at the age of 69.

For the past 45 years, Pastor Heinicke has been a Missouri Synod Lutheran minister.
Born in Hoxie, Kansas, he grew up in Elk Creek, Nebraska. He attended St. Paul's College at Concordia, Missouri and graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1945.

He married Nadine M. Weber September 3, 1950. From January 1945 to November 1948, he served his first pastorate at Lutheran Churches in Creston and Osceola, Iowa. He became the pastor of the Evansdale, Iowa Lutheran Church in December 1948, where he served until fall of 1953.

He then came to Council Bluffs, serving as the pastor of Timothy Lutheran Church for 9 years, 1953 until June 1962. During this same period he also served 7 years as pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Oakland.

He was pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Amarillo, Texas from June 1962 until November 1964, when he accepted a call to Zion Lutheran Church, Manning. He served the Manning congregation for 19 years, from November 1964 until June 1983. During this same period, when needed, he served as vacancy pastor for Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla, and Zion Lutheran Church in Arcadia.

From June 1983 until August 1985, he served as pastor of the Zion Lutheran Church at Worms, Nebraska. Since 1985, Pastor Heinicke has served as the assistant pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs.

During his ministry, Pastor Heinicke has served on the Board of Missions for the Blind, was Editor of the Lutheran Messenger for the Blind, also served as chairman of the Braille Transcription Committee and was a member of the committee on Blind Ministry.

Pastor Heinicke is survived by his wife, Nadine of 39 years; four sons, Mark Heinicke of Mineola, John Heinicke of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Peter Heinicke of Detroit, Michigan and Philip Heinicke of Council Bluffs; three daughters, Martha Heinicke of LaVista, Nebraska, Mary Olson of Mission, South Dakota and Rebecca Heinicke of Council Bluffs; one sister, Elizabeth Schmidt of Seward, Nebraska; five brothers, Gary and Iddo Heinicke of Seward, Nebraska, Ted Heinicke of St. Paul, Minnesota, Bill Heinicke of Ocala, Florida and Martin Heinicke of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
