Elda Ann (Musfeldt) Gaskill

Funeral services for Elda A. Gaskill, 103, were conducted by Pastor Gordon Buchholz on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. Interment was in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. The casket bearers were: Channing Bartel, Paul Campbell, Justin Campbell, Sam Musfeldt, Allen Zobel, and Connie Faga. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon was in charge of the arrangements.

Elda Ann Gaskill, the daughter of John and Minnie (Hell) Musfeldt was born May 15, 1910, at her parents' home in Manning, and died April 16, 2014, at the Friendship Home in Audubon, at the age of 103 years, 11 months, and 1 day.

Elda was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She attended the Manning Community School District in Manning. After school she was employed at the dime store in Manning where she was the manager.

On January 6, 1931, she was united in marriage to Edmund Gaskill in Nebraska. Two daughters Julien and Zona were born to this union. They farmed in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, for 18 years before making their home in Audubon, in 1949. She was a homemaker for a few years and then worked at the People's Grocery Store in Audubon. She then was employed at the Audubon Super Valu in Audubon until she retired. Edmund died May 26, 1986. She enjoyed her home until she moved to the Friendship Home in July of 2008.

Elda was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon, and was a member of the Audubon Hospital Auxiliary in Audubon. Elda loved to garden and always had a large vegetable garden. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing and made many quilts over the years. She also enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and friends.

Elda is preceded in death by her husband Edmund Gaskill; two infant grandchildren; her parents; her brothers and sisters: Herman and Lydia Musfeldt; Melinda and Herman Johannsen; John and Ida Musfeldt; Albert Musfeldt; Ed and Carol Musfeldt; Bob and Betty Musfeldt; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Barbara Lansman; Clifford Gaskill; Lyle Gaskill; Zetta Harris; and Oscar Gaskill.

Survivors include her daughters: Julien and husband Donovan Back of Eagle Grove; Zona Bartel of Harlan; her grandchildren: Jacklin and husband Paul Campbell of Eagle Grove; Channing Bartel of Clarksville, Tennessee; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law Arlene Musfeldt of Manning; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
