ELEANOR MARGARET IRLMEIER

Eleanor Margaret Irlmeier, 89, died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning, with the Rev. Andrew Hoffmann presiding.
Lector will be Jenny Irlmeier. Eucharistic ministers will be Don and Lori Lyons. Gift bearers will be Lisa Irlmeier, Kim Hickl, Lynne Rihner and Jessica Irlmeier.
Casket bearers will be Mark Hickl, Marcus Rihner, Brian Rihner, Don Lyons, Scott Irlmeier, Chad Irlmeier and Brian Irlmeier.
Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and there will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Born February 13, 1917, near Roselle, she was a daughter of Peter and Magdalena (Truhe) Eischeid. As a young girl she moved to a farm near Halbur, where she attended school. Following schooling she stayed at home to help care for her nine younger brothers and sisters.

On January 25, 1938, she married Alex Edward Irlmeier at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur.

The Irlmeiers farmed near Templeton for several years before moving to a farm south of Manning in Audubon County.

Mr. Irlmeier died on March 2, 1972. Mrs. Irlmeier remained on the farm until 1977 when she moved into a home on South Main Street in Manning. In 1981 she built a new house on Center Street where she remained until entering Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in early 2000.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Manning, participating in Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Altar Society.

She enjoyed photography, quilting, ceramics, gardening and flowers. She was a volunteer at Manning Plaza. In her later years she looked forward to traveling with her friends. Mrs. Irlmeier is survived by four children, Janice and her husband, Denny Langel, of Waukee, Terry Irlmeier and his wife, Diane, of Clive, Dave Irlmeier and his wife, Nadine, of Manning and Kevin Irlmeier and his wife, Tina, of Medina, North Dakota; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Wilfred Eischeid of Halbur, Linus Eischeid and his wife, JoAnn, of Carroll, Julie Baumhover of Carroll, Marlene and her husband, Edward Willenborg, of Carroll, and Bernie and her husband, Jim Harrison, of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister-in-law, Shirley Eischeid, of Carroll; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Edward, Fred and Melvin Eischeid; and a sister, Elaine Bolster.
