GONE TO REST.
After an illness of several months duration, Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Emery, wife of Philip A. Emery, passed away Monday forenoon, at her home 4 miles west of Manning. Mrs. Emery died from a complication of diseases, and during her prolonged illness she suffered much pain; but bore up under her pains and afflictions with the fortitude of a good true Christian woman that she was.

Deceased was born December 3, 1851, in Fayette County, Ohio, and was 37 years, 7 months and 2 days old at the time of her death. She was married in 1872, her maiden name being West. She leaves a husband and 4 children to mourn her loss. Mrs. Emery was a member of the Christian Church, was a model wife, a kind mother and a valued friend and neighbor. Her long residence in and near Manning gave her a wide acquaintance, and her death is deeply regretted by the entire community. The funeral was held from the Christian Church at this place at 11 A.M. Wednesday, Rev. Encell conducting the services in a very affecting manner. The funeral was largely attended, the Woman's Relief Corps and G.A.R. boys being present as a body and the church was packed with sympathizing friends and neighbors. The remains were tenderly laid to peaceful rest in the Manning Cemetery.
