A SAD DEATH
The people of Manning and vicinity were greatly shocked last Tuesday morning to hear that Mrs. Louis Krebs had committed suicide by taking strychnine Monday evening while the family was at supper, and dying a few minutes later.

Relatives and near friends of Mrs. Krebs say that she has not been in her right mind for some time and although she has often told her friends that she was not going to live very long, still no one imagined that she would take her own life, as she had no reason to as far as we can learn.

Elizabeth Krebs nee Sachleben was born at Buena Vista, Clinton county Iowa and died near Manning, Iowa November 6, 1905, aged 31 years, 10 mouths and 20 days. She came to Carroll County in 1880 and was married to Louie Krebs March 4th, 1896. Three children were born to this union Hilda aged 8, Katie aged 6 and Louie aged four years. In early youth she was baptized and joined the Lutheran Church of which she was a member at the time of her death. She leaves a husband and three children and a father and mother and numerous friends around Manning to mourn her loss.

The funeral was held from the home Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Golden of the M.E. Church officiating, and followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends the body was laid to rest in the Manning Cemetery.

The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of this entire community as Mrs. Krebs was well and favorably known for miles around and the news of her sad and untimely death came as a shock to everyone who knew her.

Note: there are no tombstone records for Elizabeth Krebs. The city records show Mrs. Lizzie Krebs, section 3, lot 1.
