Mrs. Ellen Dillingham {Mary Ellen (Berry) Dillingham} was born in St. Joe County, Indiana, July 22, 1850. Fifteen years later she came with her parents to Iowa and for several years lived in Franklin County.
For the last 43 years she has been a resident of Manning. Her husband, Nathaniel, died a little more than two years ago. He was a Civil war veteran. She was the mother of 14 children, 10 of whom survive her.
The deceased has been in a more or less helpless condition for a long time and ten weeks ago she had a stroke and gradually became weaker.
She passed away November 15, at the age of 74 years, 3 months and 23 days. Funeral services were held at the home November 18, the Rev. Harry Coates officiating. Remains were laid to rest in the local cemetery.
