Mrs. James Leonard Dead.
Mrs. James Leonard died at her home three miles southeast of this city last Friday evening, January 31st. She had suffered with complications for some time but the principal cause of her death was old age. Mrs. Leonard was a good, kind and loving mother and wife and has been a member of the Catholic church for many years.

Mrs. Ellen (O'Neil) Leonard was born in Slico County, Ireland, in 1836, came to America at the age of sixteen years and was married to James Leonard in 1853, in Dorham, Canada, They moved to Illinois in 1869 and to Carroll County in 1883 on a farm near Manning where they have since resided. Nine children were born to them of which four sons and two daughters together with the husband, who is now very feeble, survive her. The funeral was held at the Catholic Church in Manning February 3rd at 10 o'clock a.m. conducted by Rev. Father Tierney, of Manilla, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery just northeast of town.

The bereaved family have the deepest sympathy of the community in this, their saddest hour of affliction.

William Leonard, of Omaha, and John Leonard, of Norfolk, Nebraska, arrived last Saturday and were in attendance at funeral.
