Elsie Christine, daughter of Herman and Katie (Karsten) Rowedder, was born July 8, 1913, in Crawford County, Iowa. She was baptized into the Lutheran Faith on September 6, 1914, and confirmed on January 22, 1928. Elsie completed her education in rural schools near her home and then worked at home for a number of years.

On April 4, 1934, Elsie was united in marriage with Lewis Anthony by John M. Ansorge, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. They made their home on farms northwest of Manning and were the parents of three children.

Elsie raised a large garden and was good at cooking and baking. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning where Elsie was a faithful member of the Ladies Aid. After farming 40 years, they retired in 1974 and moved to Denison. After retirement, Elsie immersed herself in reading until her eyesight began to fail. While in Denison they were members of Our Savior Lutheran Church where Elsie was a member of the Women's Guild.

After Lewis died in 1991, she remained in Denison until June of 2004 when she became a resident of the Manning Plaza Nursing Home. On April 24, 2006, Elsie suffered a massive stoke following a successful replacement of her pacemaker. She died on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Creighton University Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 92 years, 9 months, and 21 days.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; son-in-law Larry Jahn; sister Emma Rowedder; brother Herbert Rowedder and wife Edna and brother-in-law; Gilmer Anthony and wife Ida.

Elsie is survived by her three children: Marlene Jahn of Manilla; Joleen and husband Stan Spies of Manilla; Royce Anthony and wife Kay of Adel; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; brother Ivan Rowedder and wife Norma of Schleswig; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
