Died Sunday morning, September 9, the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoffmann, of Manning, Iowa. This was their first born and he was taken from them suddenly and with little warning. The child was buried at 2 p.m. Monday, the services being conducted at the house by Rev. T.S. Bailey of Carroll. The remains were laid to rest in the new cemetery, being the first buried there.

Note about the new Manning Cemetery referenced above and below which is now the present day Manning Cemetery.

Most of the parties who had buried their dead on Mr. Ingledue's lot and elsewhere in town are removing them to the new cemetery. It is to be hoped that all will do so promptly, for the decency and propriety of the thing.

It is possible this is Emil H. Hoffmann: July 20, 1884 to September 8, 1884, son of Henry & Anna Hoffmann which is written on the tombstone.

Emil Hoffmann is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
