Mrs. J.W. Anthony, 72, died suddenly at home Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. J. William Anthony, 72, were held Monday, January 14, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor George B. Eschenbacher officiating. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery. John Musfeldt, Sr., Vertus Lamp, Henry Martens, William Dammann, Jr., Ed Kruse, and Lewis Hagedorn were pallbearers.

Mrs. Anthony died unexpectedly at her home during her sleep on Friday morning. The body was taken to the Ohde Funeral home.

Emma Matilda (Kuhl) Anthony, daughter of Marcus and Anna Kuhl, was born September 1, 1884, in Iowa Township, Crawford County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She made her home with her parents until 1907, when on March 20 she was united in marriage to J.W. Anthony.

Mr. and Mrs. Anthony have lived in Manning since retiring from the farm in 1944. Their son, Wilbur, now lives on the farm home northwest of Manning.

Besides her husband and son, Mrs. Anthony leaves a daughter, Mrs. Henry (Norma) Lamaack of Manning, four grandchildren, Allen, Marta and Valda Lamaack and Colene Anthony, and two brothers, Carl and H.E. Kuhl of Manning. A sister, Ida Kuhl, preceded her in death.
