Mrs. Chris Bartels Dies of Heart Attack
Funeral services for Mrs. Chris Bartels, the former Emma Wulf of Manning, were held at 3 o'clock Tuesday at the Ohde Funeral home with the Rev. Harlan Kruse of the Presbyterian Church officiating.

Music was sung by the Presbyterian quartet. Burial was in the Manning cemetery Pallbearers included Vertus Lamp, Alfred Kuhl, J.W. Anthony, Albert David, John Musfeldt, and Herman Pahde.

Mrs. Bartels was born April 1, 1882, at Minden and passed away at her home here at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 1951. Although she had not been in good health, her death came unexpectedly from a heart attack.

On June 9, 1903, she was married at Carroll to Mr. Bartels, who died in 1942. The couple first lived in Manning, then in Irwin, and farmed south of Manning until 29 years ago, when they retired and made their home in Manning proper.

She leaves three brothers and a sister, Ed of Le Mars, John of Bronson, Charles of Remsen and Mrs. Clara Paape of Dodge Center, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, three brothers, Frank, William and Louis, and a sister, Mrs. Emil Stuhr.

She reared her brothers, Ed and Charles, following the death of their mother.
