MRS. EMMA BOLTE
March 14, 1912 Manning Monitor

Mrs. Emma Bolte, nee Rehder, was born on the 16th day of July 1848 in Itzehoe Schleswig-Holstein. In 1874 the deceased immigrated to America and found her home in Pottawattamie County, Iowa. In 1874 she was united in marriage to Conrad Bolte who survives her. The family lived in Pottawattamie County till 1892, then moved to Crawford County and settled on a farm west of Manning near Aspinwall. Ten years ago they left the farm to move to Manning to make this their permanent home.

About eight weeks ago the deceased suffered a stroke of paralysis rendering her left side lame. Everything thought of by the husband, the children, faithful friends, and neighbors was done to decrease her suffering. Medical aid was sought to alleviate her pain. But the prospects of effecting a permanent cure were not very promising. Instead of gaining she continually lost vitality and on Thursday morning at 10 minutes to four she passed to a better world where there is no suffering or pain.

This union was blessed with four children: Herman, Lullu, Conrad, and Minnie. Those that mourn the loss are the following: the sorrow stricken husband, Conrad Bolte, the children, Herman residing west of Manning, Mrs. Lullu Joens, living south of Manning, Conrad of Manning and Mrs. Minnie Kuhl, west of Manning. Three sisters Mrs. Louise Blueden, of Logan, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Andresen of Bentley, Iowa, and Mrs. Sophia Boesch, of Treynor, Iowa; and nine grandchildren.

The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the German Hall. Many friends here assembled to pay her the last tribute. Rev. A.W. Fruechte, spoke comforting words to the bereaved relatives.
