Emma Borkowski

Funeral services for Emma Borkowski, 80, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning with burial in the Manning Cemetery. The Rev. Edward F. Heinicke will officiate.

Mrs. Borkowski died Tuesday evening, July 12, at St. Anthony Hospital, Carroll, where she had been a patient one day. She had lived at a Perry nursing home since May 1.

Born August 20, 1885, at Round Grove in Scott County, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine Paulsen. She lived in Scott and O 'Brien Counties and in Missouri until she came, still a young child, to the Manning area in a covered wagon with her parents. She was married August 1, 1906, to Otto F. Borkowski at Lincoln Township Church in Audubon County. They were parents of five children.

Survivors include: Mr. Borkowski; three sons, Clarence of Jefferson, Earl of Glidden and Harold of Botna; Three sisters, Mrs. Alvena Stribe and Mrs. Katie Musfeldt, both of Manning; and Mrs. Amanda Welding of Portland, Ore.; 30 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by a son, Roy; a daughter, Mamie (Mrs. John) Rostermundt; three brothers, Peter, Henry, and Charles Paulsen; and a sister, Mrs. May Jurden.


Emma Borkowski is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
