A Memorial Service for Emma (Paysen) Dietz was held April 10, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Marshall Brown officiated the service with Helen Ohde as vocalist and Connie Siepker as organist. Interment was held in Manning Cemetery, Manning, Iowa with Eric Feldick, Andrew Feldick, Jonathan Feldick, Charlie Metcalf and Thomas Rinker as honorary casket bearers.

Emma (Paysen) Dietz of Manning, Iowa, died March 22, 1999 at the age of 100 years and five days. She was living at the Manning Plaza in Manning at the time of her death.

Emma was born at Charter Oak, Iowa, on March 17, 1899 to Thomas and Catherine (Dreessen) Paysen. She was the youngest of seven children. Her mother died when Emma was ten months old. Emma and her siblings lived with an Aunt and Uncle while her father worked as a tin smith and plumber in Manning. When Emma was five years old her father married Minnie Steen. Emma attended school in Manning through the tenth grade.

On November 14, 1919, Emma and Albert Dietz were married in Blackfoot, Idaho, where her parents had previously moved. Three daughters, Neva, Norma and LaRue, were born to this couple. In 1927, the family moved to Manning after the death of Albert's parents, George and Agnes Dietz.

Emma was a member of the Presbyterian Church, participating in the church choir. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Democratic Party Committee. Emma enjoyed dancing, traveling and playing bingo and cards.

Besides her parents and husband, Emma was preceded in death by three brothers: Otto, Bill and Albert Paysen; a half-brother Edwin Paysen; and three sisters: Mathilda Evers, Martha Droege and Louise Kreyer.

Emma is survived by her three daughters: Neva and her husband, Thomas Thompson, from Stockton, California; Norma and her husband, Harley Feldick, from Coralville, Iowa; LaRue and her husband, Speros Travlos, from Sioux Falls, South Dakota; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-greatgrandson and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials maybe made to the First Presbyterian Church in Manning or to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home in Manning.

Funeral for Emma Dietz will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 1999, at the First Presbyterian Church in Manning.

Mrs. Dietz, 100, died Monday, March 22, 1999, at the Manning Plaza Care Center in Manning.

The Rev. Marshall Brown will officiate at the service.

Burial will be at the Manning Cemetery in Manning.

Honorary casket bearers will be Eric Feldick, Andrew Feldick, Jonathan Feldick, Charlie Metcalf, and Thomas Rinker.

Ohde Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Manning or to the Manning Plaza Nursing Home in Manning.
