Emma Hansen

Funeral services for Emma Hansen were held Tuesday, January 18, 1994, at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. Pastor Robert Riggert officiated the service with Fern Jensen as organist. Interment was held in Manning City Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Craig Hansen, Tom Wegner, Cheryl Wanninger, Paul Hansen, Dale Wegner, and Bonnie Wurzer as casketbearers.

Emma, daughter of Otto and Helena (Starck) Jentzen, was born February 17, 1905, on the family farm near Arcadia, Iowa. She attended country school in the Arcadia area. On October 18, 1923, Emma was united in marriage with Hugo Hansen at Omaha. They farmed near Manning where Emma was a homemaker and enjoyed her garden. Her family was always of the utmost importance to her. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning and the Dorcas Society. In 1973 Emma and Hugo moved into Manning. He died in 1992.

Emma became a resident of the Manning Plaza in April of 1992. She entered the Manning General Hospital with pneumonia about nine days before her death there on Saturday, January 15, 1994 at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 29 days.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Louie Jentzen and Alvin Jentzen.

Survivors include her children: Herbert Hansen and his wife, Gloria, of Brayton; Helen and her husband, Glenn Mading, of Elgin, Illinois; Marjorie and her husband, Robert Wade, of Mesa, Arizona; Lyle Hansen and his wife, Lois, of Denison; Shirley and her husband, Robert Wegner, of Manning; and Larry Hansen and his wife, Leona, of Manning; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; four sisters: Henrietta Kruse, of Denison; Amanda Kruse, of Manning; Esther Hacker, of Morgan, Minnesota and Ella Fuchs, of Maple River; two brothers: Henry Jentzen, of Pleasant Hill, California and William Jentzen, of Arcadia; a sister-in-law, Norma Jentzen, of Carroll; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
