Funeral services for Emma Holdsworth were held Tuesday, September 18, 1984, 10:30 a.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, Iowa, with the Rev. Dennis Johnson of the Manning Presbyterian Church officiating. Dorothy Kusel was organist and Henry Henningsen the vocalist for the service. Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with casket-bearers Darrell Barrett, Tim Barrett, Randall Holds-worth, Ronald Holdsworth, Harold Jurgensen, and Gerald Jurgensen. Lee McColl and Lynn McColl were honorary casket-bearers.

Emma C. Holdsworth, daughter of John Henry and Antonia S.F. Lohrmann Jurgensen, was born February 5, 1901 in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She attended country schools in Crawford County.

On December 3, 1919, she was united in marriage with Ed Holdsworth in the Presbyterian Church in Manilla. They began farming near Buck Grove, moving to Tennant where they stayed until moving to their farm at Manilla in 1946. They retired into Manning in 1954.

Ed died on January 15, 1968, and Emma continued to live in their home in Manning. Emma was a homemaker with her family, sewing, and flowers as her utmost concerns. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Emma died after a brief illness on Saturday, September 15, 1984, at the Manning General Hospital, at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 10 days.

Besides her husband, Emma was preceded in death by a son, John, in 1929; one grandson; one sister in infancy; three brothers, one in infancy, Albert, and Peter; and one daughter-in-law.

She is survived by her children: Helen and her husband, John Barrett of Shelby, Iowa, Grace and her husband, Herb Tindall of Tigard, Oregon, Eddie Holdsworth and his wife, Bernice of Westside, and Melvin Holdsworth and his wife, Clarion of Manilla; by 11 grandchildren; by 18 great-grandchildren; by one brother-in-law, John Holdsworth of Carroll; by one sister-in-law, Mathilda Boyce of California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
