Funeral services for Mrs. Jacob (Emma) Lage were held on Wednesday, June 5, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Manning. Rev. Edward F. Heinicke officiated. Burial was at the Manning Cemetery.

Emma Alvina Lage, the daughter of Reimer and Maria (Schultz) Witt was born on July 21, 1883, near Arcadia. She attended rural schools near her home and married Jacob Lage in 1903. They farmed near Arcadia and Manning until 1931 when they moved to Manning. The couple celebrated their 70th anniversary in October, 1973.

Emma was taken to the Manning General Hospital on Sunday morning where she died early Monday, June 3, 1974.

Mrs. Lage was preceded in death by twin sons, one grandson, her parents, four sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Jacob, who is a retired mail carrier in Manning, four children, Mrs. Ina Roosa of Lehigh, Glen Lage of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Fred (Hazel) Ehlers of Manning, and Mrs. Merlin (Ruth) Schroeder of Denison, seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one brother, August Witt of Red Oak.
